End of Season Report

A lot happened this summer and unfortunately was not able to update this blog as often as I should.

July
July was great. I did Born To Tri in Asbury Park and had a GREAT race. I did so well that the Race Director Chris Wilcox awarded me with an official race banner.
The following weekend I was up in Lake Placid for the running of Ironman Lake Placid. Wow, what a weekend. I did the bike course and the swim course. I will go up again next year to volunteer and get my 2013 race slot. The bike course and awesome and terrifying all at the same time. The downhill portion coming towards Keane was unreal. 38 mph, faster than I had ever gone before. The climbs through Upper Jay and out through Whiteface were terrifyingly difficult.
Finishing that must be a great accomplishment.

August

I trained up in Maine preparing for my season close

September

Wow, the Atlantic City International Tri is for real. Great concept, great course, perfect distance. Ocean swim (which unfortunately got cancelled because of ocean conditions), transition in historic Boardwalk Hall, bike on a closed AC Expressway and finish with a run on the boardwalk. While my time could have been better, I was stoked by the course and I was stoked by finishing.

October

Finished up strong with the Seaside Half Marathon. My coach, Aque says I needed both an Olympic distance tri and a half marathon to keep me on pace for building the fitness level needed to finish Lake Placid.

I am pretty happy with my season. I finished faster in LavaMan which means i am improving. I upped my distances and finished every race I started, no DNF's.
I am very much looking forward to 2012.
On tap for 2012, are 2 half Iron distances and 2 Olympic distances and 2 sprint distances. It is a lot of racing and a huge increase in my racing schedule but I need it to prepare.
Thanks Coach Aque, thanks Jersey Shore Tri, thanks Sasso Chiropractic and thanks to my family for putting up with my Tri addiction.

Next stop, Jingle Bells run in December (an annual tradition for me :) )
